News2010-05-28: Laker Bulker "Pacific Huron" delivered into HMM charterThe mv "Seven Islands" (trading as "Pacific Huron") is the second of two lakesize Bulkcarriers delivered to us in 2010. After delivery from yard on 17th May the vessel was delivered into long term charter with Korean Charterer HMM / Hyundai Merchant Marine on 23rd May at Shanghai. The sistervessel "Three Rivers" (delivery January 2010) is also chartered to HMM. Both vessels are especially designed for trading the Great Lakes of America / Canada and the St. Lorenz Seaway to carry commodities like ore and steel into that area and leave outward with e.g. grain for FE. The 30.000 tdw / 20.494gt vessels have 6 holds / 6 hatches and are equipped each with 3 MacGregor cranes with 30t lifting capacity and prepared for grab operation. A Wartsila main engine type 6RTA-48T-B with output of 7.800 kW gives them a cruising speed of 14knots. 2008-09-09: 2 MPP newbuilding resales for Freese ShippingFreese Shipping has purchased two Beluga resales for single ship companies (KG's). The 17.100 tdw MPP carriers with 3 LIEBHERR cranes each 60t (in combination 120t) capacity have main dimensions length 143m, breadth 21,5m and draft 9,7m. Variable hight of tweendeck pontoons in holds 1 and 2, hydraulic operated weather deck hatch covers, Finish/Swedish ice-class 1A, certification for trade in Great Lakes and carrying of dangerous goods as well as re-inforced tank top and tweendeck for heavy cargoes are the main features of this so called Beluga G-Series of which 4 will be built at Hudong Shanghai Shipyard. Freese took first the "Beluga Generation" on 1st of July (now trading as "BBC Orinico") and secondly the "Beluga Gravitation" just recently on 28th August (now renamed "BBC Rio Grande"). Internally ships having the names "Amanda" and "Anita". 2007-07-17: Freese Shipping orders 28.000tdw MPP/HL vesselsAfter having delivered our two small container feeders mv “Arctic Ocean” and mv “Arctic Fox” (both Sietas Type 156 with iceclass E3, 660TEU built 1995) to their new Dutch owners JR Shipping of Harlingen, Freese Shipping inked new building contracts at Shandong Huanghai Shipyard China for delivery of two MPP / HL vessels in 2011 on 10th July 2007. The vessels with main particulars length 166.5m, breadth 27,4m and draught 10,1m have a displacement of 28.000tdw and a container capacity of 1750TEU. The ships will be named “KINGCUP” and “KINGFISHER”. In holds stowage of 5 tiers of 9’6” high containers is possible. The vessels are equipped with 100 reefer sockets and capable of carrying dangerous goods according SOLAS II-2 Reg. 19. Two cranes each 120t and one crane 45t are installed port side. In combined operation lifts of up to 240t can be handled. In holds No 2 to 4 the pontoon type tween deck is adjustable in two heights. Hydraulic operated hatch covers closing all holds. As main engine the new designed, electronically managed MAN B&W 6S40ME-B will be installed. This engine meets latest requirements in environmental protection (reduced emission) and energy efficiency. A long term time charter agreement with OPAL / POST (Orient Pacific Asia Line Ltd. Hong Kong / Pacific Orient Sea Transport Pte Ltd. Singapore) in their Asia-Australia Service has been arranged by Hamburg based broker Ernst Russ. The financing is arranged by Bremer Landesbank and OwnerShip emission house which was also in charge for placing the capital for previous Freese MPP’s on the public market. The two resales sold via S&P broker Ernst Russ are previous slots (options) of Reederei Braren who has ordered already 3 similar vessels at Shandong Huanghai but due to intended West-Africa service with 80t cranes only and foldable tweendecks. Initially the five yard slots (3 / Opt 2) have been developed in cooperation with Peter Gast Shipping GmbH. |
